Governors Endodontics is committed to providing the highest standards of care for patients in a relaxing and caring environment.  We specialize in saving teeth through meticulous microscopic root canal treatment and precise endodontic microsurgical care. 


Dr Tawil is a Board-Certified Endodontist in the Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham & Pittsboro area. After several years of private practice and over a decade in academia, Dr Tawil followed his passion for patient care by opening a patient-centric clinic in a convenient location serving our community around Orange, Chatham, Durham & Wake County. Our office offers the latest technology, a top-class academic experience, and a relaxing setting at one convenient location. Simply put, we aim to put you and your oral health first. Dr Tawil continues his passion for teaching through the Governors Endodontics Teaching Institute. We aim to elevate endodontics & root canal clinical skills. We offer several courses that focus on teaching advanced surgical techniques for endodontists locally, nationally and internationally. Through partnerships with referring dentists around the NC triangle area, Dr Tawil and his team work to provide root canals and endodontic services within the overall treatment plan that make sense for the long-term holistic dental health of the patient. Experience

Dr Tawil has been practicing in this profession since 2004 and has over a decade of top-class academic experience serving as the Endodontics Graduate Program Director and as the Olmsted Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He authored over 60 publications during his tenure at UNC and has also been nominated yearly since 2011 as a "Top Dentists" by his peers in the Chapel Hill magazine. We offer an easy location with ideal free parking situated within a couple of feet from our clinic.

Financial Policy & Insurrance

We are a fee for service practice where payment is due at the time service is rendered. 

Although we do not accept direct insurance payments, we can electronically process most insurances and facilitate your reimbursement process through our digital technology that is connected to your insurance carrier.  


We accept all major credit card and debit cards, as well as cash, personal checks & PayPal

If a payment plan is needed, we also accept CareCredit.

We use AWS cloud encrypted HIPAA compliant software technology that facilitate your scheduling, completing your registration remotely, managing your chart, making your payments, communicating with your dentist and your insurance companies.

Our Mission

Open communication through patient education is a priority of Governors Endodontics. We will spend extra time diagnosing each patient to explain their treatment recommendations to save their natrual dentition. We want our patients to understand their options in regards to saving their teeth and help alleviate any anxiety they may have about the process of root canal therapy, microsurgery & endodontics.
